Tip of the week

Meet the neighbours Before embarking on a self build, introduce yourself to your new neighbours. Explain what you propose to do (if detailed planning hasn't already been approved), and apologise in advance for any future inconvenience such as noise, additional traffic, etc. This gesture will often be rewarded with a more positive response. Remember, most people don't like change, and are afraid of the unknown. Putting their minds at rest early by being up front and honest will help to reassure them that your new home will improve rather than spoil the local neighbourhood.
